Scope:
Purpose.
The purpose of this part is to implement the provisions of
section 26 of the Act (43 U.S.C. 1352). This part supplements the
procedures and requirements contained in parts 250 and 251 of this
chapter and provides procedures and requirements for the submission
of oil and gas data and information resulting from exploration,
development, and production operations on the Outer Continental
Shelf (OCS) to the Director, Minerals Management Service. In
addition, this part establishes procedures for the Director to make
available certain information to the Governors of affected States
and, upon request, to the executives of affected local governments
in accordance with the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act
and the Act.
