In cooperation with
the American Petroleum Institute (API), Global Engineering Documents
(Global) is proud to be the primary distributor for API, managing the
distribution, customer service and fulfillment for all API publications.
This collaborative effort brings you the vital standards and publications
you need from API, along with expertise in document delivery from Global,
a division of IHS Engineering.
The
American Petroleum Institute has published standards and operating practices
for the oil and natural gas industry since the 1920s. Experience has
shown that these publications, developed by committees of industry experts,
serve as a vital link in safe operations, in complying with government
regulations, in communicating with suppliers and contractors, in purchasing
activities and in access to markets. As a result, their use has greatly
influenced and contributed in providing oil and natural gas to the consumer
-not just in the United States, but throughout the world.
Today there are
over 500 of these voluntary standards and operating practices that address
safe operations, protection of the environment, the manufacture and
operation of equipment, and the safe design and installation of facilities.
There are three API Standards Committees developing these publications.
Each serves the oil and gas industry through its specific areas of interest.
The committees include:
- API ECSOEM,
API Executive Committee on Standardization of Oilfield Equipment and
Materials. API ECSOEM provides leadership in the efficient development
and maintenance of standards that meet the priority needs of the domestic
and global oil and gas exploration and production industry by minimizing
needs for individual company standards, promoting broad availability
of safe, interchangeable oilfield equipment and materials, and promoting
broad availability of proven engineering and operating practices.
- API COPM, API
Committee On Petroleum Measurement. API COPM provides leadership in
developing and maintaining cost-effective, state of the art, hydrocarbon
measurement standards and programs based on sound technical principles
consistent with current measurement technology, recognized business
accounting and engineering practices, and industry consensus. This
is accomplished through the committee's and API's leadership role
in the national and international standardization community in the
development, publication, promotion, and revision of petroleum measurement
standards, through its subcommittee structure, and through elimination
of duplicative efforts.
- API CRE, API
Committee on Refinery Equipment. API CRE promotes safe and proven
engineering practices in the design, fabrication, installation, inspection,
and use of materials and equipment in refineries and related processing
facilities.
